PTSD no longer has a hold…

As I wrote, last night was not a great night and it was because of these appointments this morning at the VA in Biloxi…

I expected to be anxious and nervous and I expected it to go the way it should…

My way…

I left early enough to get a parking spot, with that 3500 truck, I need space and we trekked from the parking garage to the clinic… I definitely got my steps in today…

By the time I get to the dental clinic, I feel midly anxious, but mostly excited to see if they would do the consults I was going to ask for…

The kid takes me back for my x-rays and exam and she takes my bp and it’s 177/77… I’ll take it…

For one thing, it was over 2,000 steps to get to the clinic in this heat and being anxious anyway… I was happy the systolic wasn’t any higher and very happy my distolic was normal and that was the important number, the lower one…

I ask the dentist when he comes in and tell him of the issue with the dislocated TMJ and how PTSD was present in the room and he said…

On the oral surgeon consult, no problem, on the private dentist referral, no problem, on the implants in the madible, problem…

Yea, we spend how many billions on defense and how much on the people doing that defense???

At least he will try with the mandible implants, if nothing else, I get to chose my private doctor and he will be the one who did my extraction after we moved here… He also does implants and I can find out what they will cost me, but the VA pays for the appointment, I get 2 things done at once… Both in my favor…

At least I can afford to have it done, but as a 100% priority 1 disabled veteran, I shouldn’t be paying for anything, yet, I am out over $50,000 because the VA system is so corrupt…

I know!!! I got a few directors fired… El Paso was one that went bye bye, Tuscon too… wink wink…

No more trips back to the VA, my care is now all private and that makes me very happy and content… and now, with the VA covering my dental in private care, I can get answers that would have cost me upwards of $500 for a consult…

Other than mild cranky this morning from too little sleep because of my legs, today was stellar…

Commissary was disappointing… I have shopped in them my whole life and you don’t save any money going to the base…

Walmart is cheaper and I see lots of uniforms in Walmart and Sams…

Well, my lunch is waiting and I am happy with how I handled the PTSD…

It doesn’t mean it’s gone for good… I know never to expect that… Why???

Because the physical trauma I live with daily never lets me forget…

I remember…

About Me

I am Maggi, given that name on Okinawa during the Vietnam war by a group of Marines in transit at Naha AFB… At 17 years old I didn’t know I was missing memory… I had lost the first 17 years of life and was about to embark on a journey of intrigue, murder, rape, military coverup and live a life, most only dream about… Will I ever remember my youth or will I always walk in shadow not knowing who I was…

This is my story of survival…
