Japanese Binjo Ditch’s….

Now the ones I remember, didn’t have any cover on them and people would squat and take a piss or dump in public… Japan, Johnson AFB circa 1968…

Now why the write???

Base Housing, Naha AFB, Okinawa circa 1971…

Now behind the house we lived in, on Okinawa in base housing had a ditch that was like a Binjo ditch and it could fill with water pretty good and if you were coming in the back gate at Naha and walked through base housing, you would jump a few of those ditches getting to your specific unit…

Well, this is a memory, I still smile about…

One of the GI’s I was dating who was in the Army and I were walking back to my house that night and both of us took a tumble into that ditch and yea, we stunk and were icky…

We had a half bath in the back of that unit we lived in… Thinking 5 bedroom house and the guy I was with, we went in the back door and strip down and take turns taking showers…

No sex, no nothing, just wanting to get the filth off of us and Freda walks in!!!!

Yea, I am laughing, because I had already let Don and Freda know, you were done dictating my life and her eyes big and she says…

“You better hope your dad doesn’t wake up”… I laughed and said, he knows how to run and looked at the guy with me…

To this day, I can’t remember if that was Jim Yettman in this picture or if it was someone else…

But we had enough respect for each other, not to go there in my parents home…

It was all about getting the filth off…

We sat and chatted after Freda went back to bed, while the laundry ran… He needed his clothes so he could go back to the barracks…

The memory tells me we had been at a off base party outside of Naha…

Many of those guys I dated for those 2 years on island, made it home… Many left their souls on Vietnams soil….

I hope that memory is as good for the GI as it is for me, because, I am still smiling…

I remember.,..

About Me

I am Maggi, given that name on Okinawa during the Vietnam war by a group of Marines in transit at Naha AFB… At 17 years old I didn’t know I was missing memory… I had lost the first 17 years of life and was about to embark on a journey of intrigue, murder, rape, military coverup and live a life, most only dream about… Will I ever remember my youth or will I always walk in shadow not knowing who I was…

This is my story of survival…
