Funny day today… Remembering this stuff isn’t on my radar… Figuring out how to keep critters from eating my garden is and this memory of a old station wagon and how we survived hanging our ass’s out that back window… Fumes coming in and crashing out after what ever we were playing or reading did us in… and somehow…
We survived… Brady bunch never had a thing on us kids from the 60’s…
I know we had a Belair, 4 door, when we left Kansas and drove behind our manufactured home as it was hauled to Montgomery for our next military assignment…
Gunther AFB if my spelling is correct, is where we would be for 4 years… I believe the 2nd brother was born in Alabama and the other brother was Kansas… We moved lots… only 2 of us are from the same state…
By the time the 2nd bro came along, it was getting crowded in that 4 door Belair…
I remember trips from Montgomery to Bonita in that wagon… Always going for the very back, away from everyone…
I remember one trip I begged aunt Neice to give me a jar of her home made sweet pickles… I cracked that puppy the minute we pulled out to go home… I know I shared it, but with which sibling, that memory isn’t there… It’s gone…
We had that wagon when Don went to Vietnam… 4 kids, you can’t do anything else and I know we had it when Don came back from Vietnam on emergency leave because, yep, Freda was pregnant and not by him…
That’s it… That’s all the memory shows me… We went from the Belair to the Wagon to Japan all within a 5 year period and all because of Freda…
Have a wonderful day…
I remember…
