This is a typical king snake down here in south Mississippi and that is the skin I found… So it wasn’t a cotton mouth… Now about the snake dance…
Homer is doing what he needs so we can fence off the bottom of the shed to keep snakes and rodents out…
So, I walked out back to see if it was dry enough to cut down the last of the swamp grass, which is where I found the skin…
Homer hooks me up with the gas push mower that has rear wheel drive, we be styling and I go out there to a area that is muddy, knee high grass and perfect hiding spots for everything that hops or slithers…
So I am almost done and I let out a scream Homer heard on the other side of the acreage and screamed snake and he starts to go get a hoe and I scream after mower stopped, we don’t kill them…
So, I stand there and I look where I saw the juvenille snake go… And hope that it has a hole to slither into…
I start cutting that last strip ever so slowly and my RN neighbor kids are having a ball watching a old woman do the snake dance…
Every jump, every hop, every critter that moved, I jumped…
I never found the snake again, it didn’t get cut up, because it is so muddy the mower was set high…
Now we know it was a King snake I found, not a cotton mouth…
My adventures for the day are over…. bowl time…
I remember…
